Kaaren Terry, originally from San Diego, California, has transitioned from life in the big city to various scenic locales. She previously resided in the small mountain community of Julian, where she and her husband lived a secluded life in the forest with their two schnauzers. Inspired by stories from her Nana and extensive research, she unearthed the rich history of Julian, discovering the enduring pioneer spirit of its descendants who continue to eschew the fast track of modern life. This blend of historical insight and personal experience has given rise to a vibrant cast of fictitious characters and events, forming the foundation of her debut novel and an anticipated series set in this historic gold mining town.
